When I was a nine, one of my best friends was a girl named Emily. We used to play NFL QB Club 1999 on Nintendo 64 and, at the time, I knew so little about football that I didn’t even understand what ‘first and 10’ meant.  Emily would take advantage of my lack of knowledge of the sport and watch me run the wrong way and get safetied every single play. She would laugh. I had no idea what was going on. This would all change when I got a Nintendo 64  for Christmas in 2000.

One of the first games we got was Madden 2000. I began playing the game on easy of course and
slowly gained an understanding of the sport. Playcalling was still confusing to me, but I was able to demolish teams with the Packers (remember, I was playing on easy). One game, I scored 94 points on the Redskins (5 minute quarters). In the same game, Antonio Freeman had over 1,000 receiving yards. This remains one of my proudest videogame-related moments. I don’t care that I was playing on easy.
